Hello, and a very warm welcome

Neuroaffirming online counselling
Face-to-face counselling and Walk & Talk therapy on the Isle of Wight

About me

My name is Tilda (she/her), and I’m a qualified person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist.

Warmth, empathy, and authenticity are at the heart of my practice, and I am driven to offer a safe and affirming space for all.

I hold a neuroaffirming approach, meaning together we can adapt our sessions to fit you as an individual - no matter your neurotype

Alongside my private practice, I also work with a local charity for children and young people, where I offer counselling sessions and co-facilitate groups for neurodivergent clients and parents

I’m based on the Isle of Wight, where I offer 1:1 face-to-face sessions, either at my indoor therapy space or outdoors as Walk & Talk therapy.

I also offer 1:1 online counselling, meaning location doesn’t have to be a barrier to accessing sessions: we can meet via online video & audio call or audio call only (depending on your preference).

** Please note: I am currently unable to accept new clients. If you would like to be added to my waiting list, or have any questions, please do get in touch. **

About person-centred counselling

Counselling and psychotherapy are also known as ‘talking therapies’. Sessions can offer you a safe space to talk about and explore topics on your mind without judgement.

Person-centred counselling is a humanistic approach to therapy founded by Carl Rogers. Rogers believed that everyone, given the right therapeutic conditions, can grow and heal.

The BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) has some more in-depth details of Person-Centred Counselling here:

Our sessions will be client-led, empowering you to be at the helm of the metaphorical ship we sail on together.

But don’t worry - I’m still right there beside you!

I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own life. Our sessions will therefore be uniquely tailored to you and we will go at a pace that feels right for you. My role is not to advise you or direct you, but to help you explore the things you bring to our sessions through your individual frame of reference.

The 3 core conditions…

In each and every one of our sessions I will always offer 3 core therapeutic conditions, which are there to facilitate a safe environment in which you can grow and heal. They are as follows:

Empathy
Seeing, understanding and feeling things from your point of view (your ‘frame of reference’)

Unconditional Positive Regard (UPR)
Unconditional acceptance and value of you as my client

Congruence
Being honest and authentic about who I am, how I experience you and your world, and how I experience our work together

What I can help with

I understand that life can throw all sorts of difficulty at us. I have experience working with the following:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression & low mood

  • Family

  • Relationships

  • Friendships

  • Loneliness

  • Change & transitions

  • Unresolved matters

  • Self-esteem & self-worth

  • Bereavement & grief

  • Dementia

  • Stress

  • Work-related matters

  • University, college & school related matters

  • Inner child work

  • Neurodivergence* (including presentations in women, girls and non-binary individuals)

  • Burnout (including autistic burnout)

  • Unmasking neurodivergence

* You do not need to hold a diagnosis to work with me - self-diagnosed, self-identifying, late-diagnosed, and undiagnosed are all welcomed. Likewise, all neurotypes (including neurotypical) are warmly welcomed into my practice.

Specialisms:

Neurodivergence is a passion of mine and a niche in my counselling and other professional work. This comes from lived experience and, as a neurodivergent counsellor, I uphold a ‘nothing about us without us’ approach when it comes to supporting neurodivergent folk in therapy. Being neuroaffirming means I work within the framework of the neurodiversity paradigm, as opposed to a medical model. Together, we can adapt our sessions to fit you as an individual. If you have any questions about this, please do pop me a message over on my ‘contact’ page.

I am also interested in inner child work, and believe that we carry our inner child with us throughout life.

My practice is a safe space welcome to all.

I am neuroaffirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming and driven to continuously learn about and reflexively consider cultural differences and the ways these can impact therapy.
